Chicago (March 9, 2021) — Lace up your running shoes and head outdoors for Lincoln Park Zoo’s 43rd annual Run for the Zoo! From June 5-13, complete the chosen distance at your own pace from anywhere. Registration is open for the virtual 5K run/walk, 10K run, and children’s race, Safari Stampede. All proceeds from this race help keep Lincoln Park Zoo free.
“Virtual Run for the Zoo is a safe way to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, and support your zoo,” said Zoo Director Megan Ross, Ph.D. “When you register for Run for the Zoo, you’re not only supporting the zoo as a Chicago staple, but unparalleled animal care and wildlife conservation”.
This year’s race returns in a virtual format, allowing registrants from across the country to participate in the beloved race, stay safe, practice social distancing, and support the nation’s only privately-managed free admission zoo.
Participants who donate or raise a minimum of $25 will earn a commemorative supporter medal.
Race options vary in price, starting at $24.99 for the virtual 5K/10K supporter package, $39.99 for the virtual 5K/10K premium care package, and $24.99 for the virtual Safari Stampede (recommended for ages 10 and under). Unique swag and special zoo experiences vary by chosen package. Lincoln Park Zoo members receive a $5 discount on the 5K and 10K packages. Membership options are available at lpzoo.org/membership.
