Père David’s Deer

Lincoln Park Zoo is excited to announce the arrival of three male Père David’s deer

at Camel & Zebra! Shui (“water”), Youyong (“swim”), and Lujiao (“antler”) arrived from the Bronx Zoo as recommended by the Père David’s Deer Species Survival Plan® (SSP).

The trio is doing well, and they enjoy spending time in the pool and mud wallows in their habitat to keep cool during the summer.

Père David’s deer are native to China and are found in marshes and waterways. This species loves the water.
