Are you ready to take action with us? Lincoln Park Zoo’s Monthly Action Plan program helps you develop family-friendly, eco-conscious habits that support wildlife, both locally and globally. Each month will focus on a small step, such as choosing forest-friendly products, and feature a virtual program with zoo staff, ranging from special animals chats or feedings to tours of zoo buildings and grounds to games and activities. Sign up for one month or join us each time.
Together, we’ll develop new habits and work to make the world better for wildlife!
How It Works
During the first week of the month, you’ll receive access to a packet of resources about a conservation issue, such as invasive species, climate change, or single-use plastics. The packet will contain a specific activity for you to complete over the month. Some months, we’ll ask you to change a household habit, like making more vegetarian meals; other times, we’ll ask you to write postcards to decision-makers We’ll provide all the info and materials to make it fun and easy. Then, at the end of the month, you and the rest of the participants can join us for a Zoom program to reflect on what we learned and how it helps wildlife.
Participants will receive a digital packet of resources aimed at education, action, and fun. Resources may include journal pages, scavenger hunts, postcard templates, recipes, word searches, and much more.
Lincoln Park Zoo members enjoy invitations to exclusive zoo events, free and reduced parking, and discounts on purchases and family programs—like Monthly Action Plan!

Why It Works
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the thought of living “greener”? It can be hard to know exactly what you should do that will be easy, cost-effective, and impactful. Many times, we find that people want to make good choices for wildlife—they just don’t know where to start. That’s where Lincoln Park Zoo comes in. This program provides the background you need to understand a given conservation issue and points you toward an action that has been vetted by zoo educators and scientists as having meaningful change for species. The activities vary, but the bottom line is that when we each do a small action, our impacts add up in a major way.
While the program is designed for families with children ages 6-12, anyone can attend who wants to become a better steward of the Earth!
If we cancel a program, full refunds will be issued. If you need to cancel your registration for any reason, a refund will be issued, less a 12.5 percent processing fee. We cannot offer refunds for cancelled registrations once the materials have been sent out.
