Zoo Ball

The gala on Friday, July 11 is a crucial source of philanthropy for Lincoln Park Zoo. We are the nation’s only privately managed, admission-free zoo and the funds from Zoo Ball help us stay free and open to all. Your support also extends our impact as a leader in conservation, animal welfare, and public learning.

The Serpentine Soiree

This year’s event was inspired by the sinuous beauty of snakes like the African rock python, a near-threatened species and an apt ambassador for the work Lincoln Park Zoo does to conserve ecologically important animals around the world.

Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake Recovery Efforts

Habitat loss has caused this shy species to become endangered throughout much of its range, including Illinois. Lincoln Park Zoo works with partners across the country to guide its recovery.

African Rock Python

African rock pythons are the largest snakes in Africa, averaging up to 16.5 feet long! Click to learn more about these charismatic constrictors.

Snake Trek

Lincoln Park Zoo staff have long been involved with efforts to assist the eastern massasauga rattlesnake. Join keeper Kristen Ortiz on an annual trip to search for these threatened snakes as they wake up from hibernation in the spring.

E for Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake
In the video series ABCs of Lincoln Park Zoo, E is for Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake! Learn about these shy rattlesnakes, the ecosystems in which they live, and how Lincoln Park Zoo is helping to conserve this species.
