Winter Learning at the Zoo

Learning

December 02, 2021

Calling all youngsters! The zoo is the perfect place to learn about the natural world and connect with animals. From stimulating curiosity through play during LEAP (Learn, Explore, and Play) to tuning into the zoo’s new web series, ABCs of Lincoln Park Zoo, discover more about winter learning opportunities at the zoo below:

LEAP (Ages 2-4)

Join the zoo for a morning of investigating and exploring the natural world through play. Children guide the way as they choose whether to dig in the dirt, manipulate loose parts, create a collaborative work of art, or settle in with a story underneath a canopy of colorful fabric. Winter registration is open.

Zoo Explorers (PreK-8)

Take a trip to the zoo! Zoo Explorers is a facilitated, 55-minute, on-grounds program for school groups. Students become zoo scientists, observing animals in their habitats and using specialized tools to learn about what makes animals thrive, both in zoos and in the wild.

Zoo Investigations (Grades K-5)

During this one-hour web-based program, students confront the real-life, science-based challenges that zookeepers and researchers face every day. This program helps students develop their science skills as they make observations, gather data, and propose solutions to authentic animal care challenges.

ABCs of Lincoln Park Zoo

Lights, camera, action! The zoo’s new web series, ABCs of the Zoo, is a fun way to learn all about the zoo. The web series publishes two videos a month, and each episode’s theme starts with a different letter of the alphabet. You can watch the series on the zoo’s YouTube channel.

Be sure to check out the zoo’s previous interactive web series, Stay Tuned to the Zoo.

‘Tis the season for giving! Share the love of wildlife by purchasing a gift card for select Lincoln Park Zoo programs. Get one for your child’s class or the animal lover in your life. Gift cards are available for $25, $50, $75, and $100.
