About

Kristine has been director of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Population Management Center (PMC) since 2017. Her population biology work focuses on conducting demographic and genetic analyses and preparing Breeding and Transfer Plans with the PMC team for more than 500 species. In addition to advising zoo and aquarium population managers, Kristine directs daily PMC operations, supervises other PMC staff, and contributes to the development of software and methodologies relating to the management of small populations.

Prior to joining the PMC, Kristine was a population biologist for the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), as well as a population biologist and studbook analyst for the PMC, after beginning her population biology career as a Dr. Scholl Science Fellow with Lincoln Park Zoo’s Alexander Center for Applied Population Biology. Kristine is also the co-chair of the Amphibian Population Management Committee for the Amphibian Ark, a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquarium (WAZA) Committee on Population Management, and an advisor to AZA’s Animal Population Management Committee.
