Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo
Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo blends expert animal care, interactive learning elements, and tactile experiences to teach visitors of all ages about the interdependency of living things. This kid-friendly home for North American animals lets visitors get nose to nose with red wolves, black bears, North American river otters, and American beavers.
Commitment to Care
Animals may not be visible at all times. To promote positive animal welfare, we provide animals with choices. They can choose to spend time in areas that are out of public view.
Natural Play Spaces
Wild Sapling Play Forest
Wild Sapling Play Forest is a natural play space tucked away in a secluded, woodsy corner of Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo next to the black bear exhibit. Climb a log tower, burrow through an above-ground tunnel of sculpted metal vines, and navigate a zigzagging balance beam interspersed with tree-stump platforms.
Houston Family Play Treehouse
This treehouse offers a year-round indoor nature-based play space for children. The structure includes accessible and inclusive features such as a large tunnel with room for wheelchairs to navigate inside, a variety of tactile elements and sensory experiences to benefit guests who are blind or have low vision, interactive elements at all heights, and space in and around the structure to encourage full exploration by guests using wheelchairs, white canes, crutches, and the like.
Take Action With Us
Wildlife face many daunting challenges—some global, like planet-wide climate change, and some that affect individuals, like an animal ingesting plastic—but now is not the time to despair. None of these problems are too big for us to come together and solve.
