Accessibility at Spring Egg-Stravaganza

Beeping eggs are back this year! A fun audio and tactile alternative, these beeping eggs ensure that children who are blind or have low vision can join in on the traditional egg hunt experience. Beeping eggs will be available in the Green Zone during the 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. time slots.

Learn more about accessibility at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Sustainability at Spring Egg-Stravaganza

Helps us reduce waste! Plastic eggs are recycled and reused every year. You will see collection bins at both gates where you can drop off your empty eggs as you leave the zoo. The zoo will use those empty eggs for next year’s Spring Egg-Stravaganza event.

Which Egg Hunt Zone Is Right for My Group?

For the egg hunt, choose from six distinct zones of varying difficulty levels, terrain, and potential zoo animal spectators. With timed-entry tickets, participants can join the fun at their own pace.

Only children participating in the egg hunt need an Egg Hunt Participant ticket. Adults who wish to accompany or assist their child during their egg hunt should purchase a General Admission | Adult ticket. Infants under 12 months of age may enter for free with a ticketed adult.

All children above 12 months are welcome to participate in egg hunts. Listed age ranges are only recommendations. If you have children of different ages, they may participate in the same egg zone together, even if one child is older or younger than the recommended range.

Adults may assist children in green and orange zones only. Adults may accompany but not assist in other egg hunt zones by purchasing a General Admission | Adult ticket.

How does timed entry work?

Timed entry refers only to the time window for entering your egg hunt zone. Spring Egg-Stravaganza officially starts at 7:45 a.m., and guests are encouraged to enter before their egg hunt time to enjoy the rest of the event!

How do the egg hunts work?

Six egg hunt zones are located around zoo grounds, each with a recommended age range based on size and terrain. These age recommendations are not enforced. If you have children of different ages, they may participate in the same egg zone together, even if one child is older or younger than the recommendation.

Adults may assist children in green and orange zones only. Adults may accompany but not assist in other egg hunt zones by purchasing a General Admission | Adult ticket.

Each zone has a maximum capacity, which will be monitored by egg hunt attendants. As one group exits the egg hunt, another one is allowed in. Volunteers continuously “hide” eggs in the zone. Please limit your participant’s haul to 12 eggs to ensure there are enough treats for everyone.

Many egg hunt zones consist of open pathways, benches, fences, and gardens, so do not expect an intensive hunt with searching. However, there are great views of animals and landscapes along the way!

What are the age restrictions for this event?

Spring Egg-Stravaganza is an all-ages event. However, egg hunts are limited to guests between 1 and 8 years old. Age ranges for egg hunt zones are recommendations only and are not enforced at the event. If you have children of different ages, they may participate in the same egg zone together, even if one child is older or younger than the recommended range. If you have an older child who wishes to attend the event without participating in an egg hunt, please purchase a General Admission | Adult ticket for them.

What kind of candy is in the eggs?

Eggs come with a variety of fillings (hard candy, gummy candy, bubble gum, chocolate coins, stickers, toys, etc.). All items fit within a 2.5-inch egg and may present a choking hazard to small children—adult supervision is recommended.

Eggs are filled and distributed across egg hunt zones by volunteers. Due to the volume of eggs that need to be filled, the zoo cannot guarantee that every egg your child collects will have something different inside.

Does my child need a ticket?

Yes. All adults and children older than 12 months will need a ticket to attend Spring Egg-Stravaganza. Infants under 12 months may attend for free with another ticketed guest. If you have an older child who wishes to attend the event without participating in an egg hunt, please purchase a General Admission | Adult ticket for them.

Can my infant participate in an egg hunt?

Can my 9-year-old (or older) child participate in an egg hunt?

Egg hunts are recommended for children under 9 because of the difficulty level this venue is able to provide. Feedback received from past participants indicates that children over 9 years old don’t find the egg hunts challenging enough. If your child still wants to participate, please set their expectations (and yours) accordingly, and they are welcome to join in! Please choose egg hunt zones intended for older children.

If you have an older child who wishes to attend the event without participating in an egg hunt, please purchase a General Admission | Adult ticket for them.

My plans changed and I can no longer attend. What is the refund and exchange policy?

All Lincoln Park Zoo event tickets are nonrefundable and not transferable to another event. If you are not able to make it, you may give your ticket to a friend or family member.

Will more tickets become available at a later date?

No. Tickets are first come, first served. We suggest buying tickets early, as we cannot guarantee they will be available at a later date.

Can I purchase tickets at the door?

Tickets, especially for specific egg hunt zones, are likely to sell out for this event. We strongly suggest purchasing them ahead of time.

What can't I bring to Spring Egg-Stravaganza?

Food and alcohol purchased outside the zoo are prohibited.

For the health and safety of our animals and visitors, smoking tobacco and cannabis inside zoo gates is prohibited.

Pets are not allowed at the zoo, but service animals are welcome. Lincoln Park Zoo’s Code of Conduct can be found here.

What if it rains?

Spring Egg-Stravaganza takes place rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. All Lincoln Park Zoo event tickets are nonrefundable and not transferable to another event. If you are not able to make it, you may give your ticket to a friend or family member.

Can I enter the egg hunt zone with my child?

Yes, but each zone does have a total maximum capacity. Please be considerate of other egg hunt participants waiting to find their eggs!

Is parking available?

Paid parking is available at the zoo’s lot, located at Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive (2400 N. Cannon Drive). The zoo is also accessible by train via the Armitage and Fullerton stations and by bus via the 22, 36, 151, and 156 routes.

Will I see animals?

Hopefully! Most outdoor and indoor habitats will be open. However, all animals have the choice to be in view of guests or behind the scenes. Animal buildings in egg hunt zones will exclusively be accessible to participants in that zone until 11:45 a.m.

Will there be food and beverages available for purchase?

Yes! Come to Park Place Café during Spring Egg-Stravaganza. A variety of delicious breakfast and lunch options, including mimosas for the adults, will be available there for purchase.

What else is happening at the event besides egg hunts?

You can find the Easter Bunny in Pepper Family Wildlife Center, yard games on our iconic South Lawn, Endangered Species Carousel and Lionel Train Adventure open exclusively for event attendees, face painting, and musical entertainment and chats with wildlife experts at various locations around the zoo. See the full list of activities here.

Where can I take my photo with the Easter Bunny?

The Easter Bunny will be at Pepper Family Wildlife Center during the event. You may take a free photo with your own device, and professional-quality photos are available for purchase.
