Little Prince hardy hibiscus has dark green, maple-like leaves and 10-inch wide, mauve flowers with red centers that bloom in mid-summer to fall. This hibiscus prefers medium to wet soil in full sun to partial shade and can be grown as an accent plant or in perennial borders. This hybrid cultivar is a result of crossing selections of native species: Hibiscus moscheutos and Hibiscus coccineus. Its pollen-covered stamen attracts bees and other pollinators and its large flowers area a browse favorite at Lincoln Park Zoo.
