Haunted History Tours will guide you through notable locations in and around Lincoln Park Zoo. Tours take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October; 7 p.m. tours are available throughout the month and 8:30 p.m. tours run between October 13–28.

All tours are approximately 75 minutes long and open to guests ages 16 and older. Animal houses and zoo food and beverage locations will not be open.

About Your Guide

Adam Selzer is the host of Mysterious Chicago tours and the author of such books as Chicago’s Serial Husband: The Marriages and Murders of Johann Hoch; Graceland Cemetery: Chicago Stories, Symbols, and Secrets; The Ghosts of Chicago: The Windy City’s Most Famous Haunts; Mysterious Chicago: History at Its Coolest; and H.H. What are the age restrictions for this event?

This event is for guests ages 16 years and older. All guests must have a ticket.

Is this event accessible?

Can I purchase tickets at the gate?

Unfortunately, we cannot sell tickets at the gate for this event. Please purchase your tickets ahead of time through tickets.lpzoo.org.

My plans changed and I can no longer attend. Can I transfer my tickets or get a refund? What happens if it rains?

All Lincoln Park Zoo event tickets are nonrefundable and not transferable to another event. If you aren’t able to make it, feel free to give your ticket to a friend or family member age 16 or older.

All events will be held rain or shine. Please dress accordingly!

Is parking available? Where can my rideshare drop me off? Can I take CTA?

Paid parking is available at the zoo’s lot, located at Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive (2400 N. Cannon Drive).

We recommend rideshares drop off and pick up guests outside of Café Brauer (2021 N. Stockton Drive).

The zoo is also accessible by CTA train via the Armitage and Fullerton stations and by bus via the 22, 36, 151, and 156 routes.

Do I need to print my ticket?

Nope! For the most efficient experience, please have your ticket ready on your smartphone. All guests must show their ticket for entry.

How do I enter the event and can I re-enter if I leave?

Please meet at The Patio at Café Brauer (near the southwest end of the zoo) to get your tickets scanned. Tickets, displayed on your smartphone or a printed sheet of paper, will be scanned upon arrival. Only those with a ticket will be allowed on the tour. Re-entry is not permitted once the tour begins.

What parts of the zoo will be open, and will I see animals?

This event will take place throughout the grounds of Lincoln Park Zoo; however, none of the animal houses will be open.

What items are not allowed at this event?

For the health and safety of our animals and visitors, smoking is prohibited while inside zoo gates. Pets are not allowed, but service animals are welcome.

No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed, except for on-duty police or security personnel. For the safety of guests, staff, volunteers, and animals, all purses, bags, and other items carrying personal belongings are subject to inspection upon entry.

Please make note of restricted items:

  • No outside food or beverages
  • No filled water bottles, beverage containers, cans, or bottles
  • No folding chairs
  • No luggage of any kind
  • No animals (except service animals)
  • No coolers (unless medically required)
  • No illegal substances
  • No noisemakers or balloons
  • No Segways or motorized scooters
  • No thermal containers
  • No weapons
  • No remote-controlled aircrafts or drones
  • No items deemed dangerous or inappropriate
