Jill began her career with marine mammals at the Shedd Aquarium and the U.S. Marine Mammal Program. She joined Lincoln Park Zoo in 2003, first as a zookeeper before becoming an assistant lead keeper at Regenstein Center for African Apes. After leaving Chicago in 2015 to become the primate supervisor at Houston Zoo, where she opened their new gorilla exhibit, Jill returned to Lincoln Park Zoo in 2017 as zoological manager and was then promoted to curator of primates. Jill oversees a diverse range of primate species, including great apes, lesser apes, old and new world monkeys, and prosimians.

Jill also serves as secretary for the Gorilla Species Survival Plan® and is a member of the Gorilla Behavioral Advisory Group. She is currently working on several research projects with Lincoln Park Zoo’s Lester E. Fisher Center for the Study and Conservation of Apes.
