Come for the brews, stay for the boos! Zoo Brews: Howls and Growls is an adults-only Halloween party at Lincoln Park Zoo that lets you “trick or treat” your way through sample stations across the zoo for samples of all your favorite potions and elixirs (craft beers and ciders). You can also catch a live pumpkin carving demonstration, explore spooky themed areas with roaming entertainers, and show off your creativity in the costume contest!

I’m a member. How do I receive my discount?

Members may receive their discount by logging in to their member account at tickets.lpzoo.org prior to selecting tickets. The discount will be automatically applied.

What are the age restrictions for this event?

All guests must be 21 years of age by the date of this event. No one under 21 will be admitted.

What costumes are allowed?

All kinds of costumes are welcome at this event, but for the safety of all, costumes with full-face coverings are not permitted. Due to animal care needs, if you choose to wear a costume that is inflatable or full-bodied with fur, or that has wings, tentacles, or similar extensions, you may not be allowed into certain animal buildings.

My plans changed and I can no longer attend. Can I transfer my tickets or get a refund? What happens if it rains?

All Lincoln Park Zoo event tickets are nonrefundable and not transferable to another event. If you aren’t able to make it, feel free to give your ticket to a friend or family member age 21 or older.
All events will be held rain or shine. Please dress accordingly!

When will ticket prices increase for this event?

$55 Early Bird: April 7–July 31
$60 General Admission: August 1–September 30
$65 Last Call: October 1–October 22
$70 Day Of: October 23*

*If tickets are still available on the day of the event, tickets will be sold at zoo gates.

Can I purchase tickets at the gate?

Maybe. If tickets remain available, a limited number will be for sale at the entrance gates for a higher price. We highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, though, as this event may sell out quickly!

Is parking available? Where can my rideshare drop me off? Can I take the CTA?

Paid parking is available at the zoo’s lot, located at Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive (2400 N. Cannon Drive).

We recommend rideshares drop off and pick up guests outside of the zoo’s West Gate at Stockton Drive and Webster Avenue.

The zoo is also accessible by train via the Armitage and Fullerton stations and by bus via the 22, 36, 151, and 156 routes.

Do I need to print my ticket?

Nope! For the most efficient experience, please have your ID out and ticket ready on your smartphone. All guests must show their ID and ticket for entry.

What parts of the zoo will be open? Will I see animals?

Hopefully! Most outdoor and indoor habitats will be open for viewing. However, all animals have the choice to be in view of guests or behind the scenes. Zoo buildings will close for the night by 9:30 p.m.

Will there be food available for purchase?

Yes! A variety of delicious food options will be available for purchase across zoo grounds.

What items and activities are not allowed at Howls and Growls: Zoo Brews?

Lincoln Park Zoo is a smoke-free, vape-free environment. Pets are not allowed, but service animals are welcome. Lincoln Park Zoo’s Code of Conduct can be found here.

No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed, except for on-duty police or security personnel. For the safety of guests, staff, volunteers, and animals, all purses, bags, and other items carrying personal belongings are subject to inspection upon entry.

Please make note of restricted items:

  • NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES
  • No filled reusable water bottles or beverage containers
  • No folding chairs
  • No luggage of any kind
  • No animals (with the exception of service animals)
  • No coolers (unless medically required)
  • No illegal substances
  • No noisemakers or balloons
  • No Segways or motorized scooters
  • No thermal containers
  • No weapons
  • No remote-controlled aircrafts or drones
  • No items deemed dangerous or inappropriate
