    Foals are born in the spring. Young males are labeled colts; young females are fillies. Young mature at 18 months, though will continue growing for years.

    • Like their handlers, ponies' temperaments vary. Some are considered intelligent, others stubborn.
    • Most pony breeds are incredibly strong for their size.
