Wild Digital Wonder
As president of Lincoln Park Zoo, I take great pride in seeing people celebrate the zoo the same way I do each day. And each holiday season, we celebrate during crisp winter nights with ZooLights Presented by ComEd and Charter One.
Festive crowds have come out each night to marvel at more than 2 million lights and experience all the other fun—visits with Santa, ice-carving, treats and more. Last weekend we provided transportation for 70 guests from the Ward Senior Homes, most of whom had never been to ZooLights before. (They were impressed.)
If you haven’t yet visited, I recommend you check out new features, like the lighted tunnels that have been wowing guests and the polar bears that appear to swim alongside Wild Things gift shop (which is stocked with perfect presents, FYI).
Speaking of digital animals, I’d also like to alert friends of the zoo to the new iPad app developed by our Assistant Director of the Fisher Center Steve Ross and Manning Productions. Chimps Should Be Chimps is fun, free and informative on the issue of chimpanzee exploitation. Go here to learn more, download the app or enter to win a free iPad.
The winner will be announced in January. As always, I’ll keep you posted.
