Members-Only Farewell for Anana

Polar bear Anana will soon move to another zoo as we get ready to build a new, state-of-the-art Polar Bear Habitat. Members can join us August 21 for an exclusive farewell party featuring an ice sculpture, farewell banners and special enrichment for this polar predator.

Baby western lowland gorilla Nayembi at Regenstein Center for African Apes, Lincoln Park Zoo

Gorillas: 50 and Counting

Go back to the 1960s, when former Lincoln Park Zoo director Dr. Lester E. Fisher started our legendary breeding program for western lowland gorillas. To date, more than 50 gorillas have been born in our care. Discover how the zoo achieved this success and became national leaders in gorilla conservation.

Tour participants will check in at Regenstein Center for African Apes next to the first gorilla family exhibit.

Rhinos: Courtship, Conservation and Care

When it comes to making a baby animal, it doesn’t just take a male and a female, it takes a whole community! From exhibit design to matchmaking, learn how we prepared for King, our newest black rhino addition.

Tour participants will check in at the north end of the Harris Family Foundation Black Rhinoceros Exhibit at Regenstein African Journey. Please dress appropriately for the weather, as parts of the program may take place outdoors.

Safari level members and above can enjoy an expert look at our amazing animals with free guided walking tours of the zoo.

Step into Africa: Regenstein African Journey Tour

Join us on a journey that will take you through the wetlands, into the forest, and out onto the savannas of Africa. During this front-of-house tour, you’ll be guided through the exhibits of the zoo’s award-winning Regenstein African Journey building, where you’ll learn about the current residents and their homes both at the zoo and in the wild.

A Walk through Time

For nearly 150 years, Lincoln Park Zoo has been a vibrant fixture in the city of Chicago. From the days of bowler hat-wearing zookeepers to apes using touch screen computers, we’ll journey through time to explore Lincoln Park Zoo’s rich history: showcasing how one Chicago park that was given a pair of swans transformed into a global leader in conservation and animal care.
