About Lauren Granger:
Lauren, a native of southern Indiana, began her career with exotic animals in 2007 as a sea turtle–care intern at M.O.T.E. Marine Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida. She assisted with training exercises, feedings and animal care with both injured sea turtle hatchlings and marine mammals. After graduation from Murray State University in 2008 with a B.S. in Agriculture (Animal Health Technology), she completed a five-month veterinary technician externship at the Louisville Zoo in Louisville, Kentucky.
Further broadening her experience, Lauren next completed a fellowship at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel Island, Florida. She assisted in all areas of wildlife rehabilitation and animal care for native wildlife species. Lauren then returned to Indiana and became a registered veterinary technician volunteer at the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Evansville. In 2010, Lauren moved to St. Louis, Missouri to continue honing her skills in a big-city small-animal clinic.
In 2013, Lauren started her full-time career as a zoo veterinary technician with the staff at Lincoln Park Zoo. She an active member of the Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians and attended her first conference in September 2013.
