More Notes from Prague...And a Bears Bet

Hello from Prague, where I'm attending the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums annual conference. We’ve been focusing on species sustainability, improving animal welfare in zoos around the world and developing new conservation initiatives. I am also picking up some interesting ideas on exhibit design from European zoos, many of which are doing some exciting, progressive things.

Today I am visiting Germany's Leipzig Zoo, then heading back to Chicago (where I hear the weather is great) at the end of the week.

On the home front, I have made a wager with Detroit Zoo President Ron Kagan for Monday night’s Bears/Lions football game. When the Bears win, Ron will be sending an enrichment treat for our bears. As always, I'll keep you posted.
