CREEPY CRITTERS—EASTERN MASSASAUGA RATTLESNAKES

They might look creepy, with their rattle-tipped tails, but eastern massasauga rattlesnakes are pretty cool. They're excellent at staying hidden, particularly in winter when they occupy burrows abandoned by crayfish. Since they're native to the Midwest, you might spot them in local fields or forests. You can always admire the one pictured here at Lincoln Park Zoo.
