Kudos to Zoo Educators!
Kudos to zoo educators! I am happy to announce that Lincoln Park Zoo was recently awarded two significant national grants to support science education locally and abroad.
As our Vice President of Education Rachel Bergren explains, “These grants will provide the assets necessary to deliver high-quality educational experiences that have the potential to impact thousands of people, from middle-school kids in Chicago and their counterparts in Africa to families enjoying a leisurely visit to the zoo.”
As many Chicagoland residents are aware, recent storms overturned garbage cans and ripped branches from local trees. Crews here at the zoo spent time this week collecting fallen limbs, though luckily we sustained no damage to property and no animals were endangered.
Speaking of Mother Nature, I’d like to invite you to Wine & Wildflowers, a celebration of blooming plantlife that we’re hosting in conjunction with the Garfield Conservatory, which is receiving proceeds from the party to repair damage caused in recent storms. Guests will get a guided, insider tour of the color-splashed zoo grounds.
I’ll be in attendance at Wine & Wildflowers on September 1. I hope to see you there. In the meantime, I’ll keep you posted.
Sincerely,
Kevin Bell
