Life History
The screaming piha can be identified by its call, which resembles a piercing whistle. This loud noise helps the birds keep track of each other in the thick rain forest canopy. The species lives in small groups of three–eight members in the wild, and females incubate their eggs in small stick nests constructed in the treetops.
