Before There Were Buildings…Step Into the City’s Past

Explore 200 years of Chicago’s natural history with images, readings and a live musical performance. “Voices From the Land” features reflections on woods and wildlife from Chicago pioneers, poets, hunters, amateur birders and even a notorious murderer.

Joel Greenberg painstakingly collected their stories in Of Prairie, Woods and Water: Two Centuries of Chicago Nature Writing. He will resurrect these voices from the past with a reading and book signing, with musicians Tom and Chris Kastle helping to bring their stories to life once more.
