Birdwalks at Lincoln Park Zoo's South Pond
Thursday mornings in April, May, September and October.
Meet on the Lester E. Fisher Bridge at 8 a.m. (MAP)
More than 300 species of birds have been observed in Lincoln Park, one of the Chicago area's best locations to see the large numbers of migrating birds that pass through every year. Join us on Thursday mornings during migration as we look for warblers and tanagers, finches and flyover hawks. The South Pond is also home to a nesting colony of black-crowned night-herons, and spring is the best time to watch them court and build nests.
These walks are geared toward beginning and intermediate birders, with an emphasis on learning bird identification. All are welcome. Bring binoculars, and dress for the weather.
If you would like a guided birdwalk for your class or large group, please contact the Education Department by calling 312-742-2056 or e-mailing dcorral@lpzoo.org . |
