Additional Information

Q. What forms of payment are accepted for drop-in participants?
A. Participants may pay at the class with a credit card or with exact cash. If you plan to pay at the class, please arrive 10 minutes early in order to submit your payment and fill out a participation waiver. All other class passes must be pre-purchased online.

Participants may also choose to register online to pay for a single yoga class. Follow the yoga registration link and then choose the drop-in pass option.

Q. What happens in the case of rain or severe weather?
A. There is no yoga rain location. A yoga instructor will always be present at the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Pavilion at the time of class. As long as there are willing participants, the instructor will hold class, as the Pavilion is somewhat covered. However, in the case of severe weather or potentially dangerous weather, the instructor will be at the Pavilion to indicate that the class is cancelled.

Q. Is there a restroom available during class?
A. Yes. A locked restroom is available at the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Education Pavilion and instructors will provide access for Yoga at the Zoo participants during and immediately before and after class.

Q. What is the maximum capacity for each class?
A. Due to the flexible nature of our class registration and the large outdoor space where class is held, it is challenging to apply a strict maximum capacity for each class. We aim to limit the adult classes to about 20 people and Parent & Toddler classes to about 15 children with adults. We cannot guarantee that a class will not go over these limits.

Q. Is the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Education Pavilion a comfortable location for yoga classes?
A. Yoga at the Zoo is a great way to spend time outdoors while staying fit, and the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Pavilion is a one-of-a-kind venue for yoga classes!

Past participants have said:

Doing yoga outside [at the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Education Pavilion] is lovely. There are other yoga classes closer to my home, but they cannot compete with the great outdoor venue in Lincoln Park.”

The yoga classes held outdoors at the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Education Pavilion were absolutely wonderful. It was an amazing experience to be near Nature Boardwalk and surrounded by peaceful landscaping while taking yoga.”

As these classes are held outdoors, we recommend dressing in layers, bringing your own bottled water, and using insect repellent, as necessary.

Q. What type of yoga is practiced at the adult class?
A. Adult classes incorporate elements of hatha and vinyasa practices that will lead you through yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and mindfulness techniques (samyama) to not only improve your health, but also develop a calm and balanced mind.

Classes are geared towards the beginner to intermediate level.

Q. Is there parking available at the zoo during classes?
A. Yes. Class participants are welcome to park in the zoo’s parking lot on Cannon Drive, although parking fees do apply. Interested in receiving discounted parking? Check out the zoo’s membership program to learn more about parking perks.

Participants are also able to park for free on nearby streets, including Stockton Drive and Lincoln Park West.
