Join us for a special evening as we explore heart health across species—from humans to chimpanzees. Hear from leading heart-disease experts and see gorillas and chimpanzees in their habitat at Regenstein Center for African Apes.

Speakers

Kathryn Gamble, D.V.M., is Lincoln Park Zoo's director of Veterinary Services   Kathryn Gamble, D.V.M.

Lincoln Park Zoo’s Kathryn Gamble, D.V.M., oversees the zoo’s Veterinary Services team and leads a unique project designed to increase our understanding of chimpanzee heart health. Small, implanted devices detect heart electrical activity at all times. The data are then scanned during training sessions with animal care staff to permit long-term analysis.

Allen Anderson, M.D., is the medical director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant program   Allen Anderson, M.D.

The University of Chicago Medicine’s Allen Anderson, M.D., a cardiologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure, is the medical director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant program. He is actively involved in national studies evaluating mechanical support of the failing heart.
