A group of creative wildlife lovers experienced a close brush—of the painter’s variety—with African lion Sahar inside the historic Kovler Lion House at the zoo’s first group painting party. Participants painted portraits of Sahar while professional instructors guided them through the process. The zoo also provided canvases, brushes, paints and easels—plus a cash bar stocked with mimosas, bloody marys and wine! Lion House keepers were also on hand to answer questions about the animals and help participants learn about big cat anatomy.
