Veterans Day Zoo Camp

Veterans Day Zoo Camp

November 11, 2014

Camp kids visting the Kovler Lion House at Lincoln Park Zoo

Animal and nature lovers in preK–4th grade enjoyed an educational adventure at Lincoln Park Zoo during their day off from school! Veterans Day Zoo Camp offered learning opportunities in animal diversity, environmental conservation and the ways the zoo cares for animals at the zoo and conserves them in the wild. Activities explored an “Animal Athletes” theme. Campers learned about the amazing proportionate strength of leafcutter ants, the leaping ability of red kangaroos and much more.

Looking for camp for fifth–eighth graders? Please email the zoo’s Camp Coordinator at Camp@lpzoo.org and let us know. We are considering offering programs for this age group and would like to contact you in the future!

About the Camp Staff

Each camp group is lead by a camp instructor. These professionals have extensive experience working with children and a demonstrated commitment to connecting children to the natural world. Camp instructors facilitate all educational components of the camp day, but groups also have the chance to meet zoo staff throughout the week, from veterinarians to zookeepers to scientists. Zoo volunteers will also support each camp group as they travel around the zoo and participate in activities.
