Second Saturdays Showcase

Saturdays, February 8, March 8 and April 12 (All Sessions Canceled)

Second Saturdays Showcase at Lincoln Park Zoo

Interested in learning more about Lincoln Park Zoo’s fascinating zoo animals? Join us to explore the ins and outs of life at the zoo and all that it takes to care for a wide array of creatures big and small from bushbabies to black bears.

This weekend program offers a unique twist on family-oriented education. Bring the whole crew to the zoo, split up into peer groups focused on the same wildlife topic—then, after the program—you can all come together and share what you learned!

Adult sessions, by the way, always include interaction with a zoo expert, such as a scientist, field conservationist or zookeeper.

The topics vary month to month:

February 8: Home Sweet Habitat (canceled)
Little ones will look into animal habitats in the wild and at the zoo. Adults will dive into the world of animal behavior studies and exhibit design.

March 8: Zoo Families (canceled)
Zoo families offer fascinating avenues of exploration, from visiting zoo babies to learning the science behind animal breeding.

April 12: Nature’s Green Team (canceled)
How do animals reduce, reuse, and recycle? Roaches can turn a rotting log into fresh soil while birds collect fallen twigs to build a home. Discover how sustainability starts with the animals around you.

Here’s how the peer groups break down:

  • Stroller Safari (one adult per child ages 0-3)
  • Pre-K to K
  • First–Second Graders
  • Third–Fourth Graders
  • Adults (ages 14 and older)

You can register each member of the family or opt to sign up just one adult or one child!

9–11 a.m. or 1–3 p.m.
Price per person: $17 ($14 for members)
