Saturdays, March 22 and April 26
Start your weekend with these special themed tours led by zoo experts!
March 22: Tour of the Tropics
Escape to the warm tropics of Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House on a tour led by a zoo horticulturist and an animal expert. Discover how the zoo exhibits are adorned with many of the same plants you may have in your home but on a magnified scale to fill the tropical, lush habitats of animals like sloths, snakes and dwarf crocodiles. This exclusive program allows attendees to enjoy a sneak peak of the exhibit before it opens to the public for the day.
Location: Regenstein Small Mammal-Reptile House
April 26: Designing Nature: Success at Nature Boardwalk
In the summer of 2010, the zoo opened its newest exhibit, Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo. Since its opening, this natural environment has evolved to become a mature, complex ecosystem and home to a slew of native plants and wildlife. Some species, like lanceleaf coreopsis and painted turtles, were introduced by the zoo, while others have simply discovered the environment and settled in to call Nature Boardwalk home. Join us to stroll around Nature Boardwalk and hear more about the success of this one-of-a-kind zoo exhibit from a zoo horticulturist and a scientist from the zoo’s Urban Wildlife Institute.
