Cinco de Mayo Piñata Party

Cinco de Mayo Piñata Party

May 4, 2014

Zoo supporters celebrated Cinco de Mayo by building creative interpretations of piñatas for zoo animals! Adults and families with kids covered balloons with brown paper and a flour and water mixture and painted pre-made piñatas. They also made willow balls and wreaths out of fresh willow that were provide to animals across the zoo. Participants watched the lowland gorillas enjoy fruit-shaped piñatas, the lynx have fun with rabbit-shaped piñatas, and the black bears rip apart a beehive piñata filled with honey and peanut butter!
