Mollie Herget
Conservation Assistant
Herget graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006, earning a B.S. in natural resources and environmental sciences. As the Conservation & Science assistant, she assists with departmental operations, including research, event organization and donor relations. She coordinates internal and external research projects for review by the Research Committee and also writes and edits the department’s quarterly newsletter. She is working with Steve Thompson, Ph.D., and Kristin Kovar on a study to determine whether recent changes in regulations, cooperative management and animal care have changed the number of bird species in zoos and aquariums. Additionally, she is working with Thompson and Nicole Kehl to generate wildlife relocation permits and protocol for the South Pond renovation project.
