Emma Lantz
Chimpanzee health research intern

Emma Lantz is a fourth-year at the University of Chicago, majoring in Biological Sciences and expects to graduate in June 2009.  She started at Lincoln Park Zoo as a Metcalf Fellow conducting visitor behavior observations in the McCormick Bird House.  Over the past two years, she has spent eight months in Tanzania studying at the University of Dar es Salaam and completing a project on factors influencing zebra herd location in Tarangire National Park.  As a chimpanzee health research intern, she focuses on maintaining the database for health and behavioral records of chimpanzees at Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania and hopes to continue her work there next year pending grant funding.
