About Michael Landeche

Michael Landeche started working at Lincoln Park Zoo in 2013 as the Endocrinology Laboratory Associate. Working under the guidance of Rachel Santymire, Ph.D., he spends most of his time in the laboratory analyzing samples for stress- and pregnancy-related hormones and metabolites.

Michael completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton, majoring in Biology with a focus on Conservation and Sustainability.  During this time he also worked as a Naturalist Intern at Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm, an Audubon Society nature center and educational organic farm located in Dayton, Ohio. His time at Aullwood kindled his ongoing interest in wildlife, conservation and natural history. Before joining Lincoln Park Zoo Michael worked as a researcher at the University of Chicago at its Kovler Diabetes Center. While there he worked on a variety of projects studying endocrine and metabolic disease. Michael hopes to use this experience to bring a unique perspective to ongoing wildlife endocrinology projects at the zoo.
