About Kristine Schad:
Kristine has been with the Population Management Center (PMC) since 2006, initially as studbook analyst and now as scientific advisor for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) cooperatively managed animal populations. As a PMC population biologist, Kristine is responsible for conducting genetic and demographic analyses and preparing breeding and transfer plans for nearly 400 species managed in more than 200 AZA-accredited zoos.
In addition to advising zoo population managers, Kristine contributes to research on small-population-management methodology and the development of population-management software. She is also co-chair of the Amphibian Population Management Committee with the Amphibian Ark.
Prior to joining Lincoln Park Zoo, Kristine worked as a project manager on a wildlife-crossing research project with the Florida Department of Transportation and Reed Noss, Ph.D. She also served as a biology-lab teaching assistant and Dr. Scholl Science Fellow at Lincoln Park Zoo.
