Notes from Miami
Greetings from Miami, where I am at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Directors' Policy Conference. (It's much warmer here than in Chicago. I apologize.)
I am among 140 attending directors of zoos and aquariums who are addressing issues ranging from green practices to the use of social media, animal welfare to collection sustainability. Lincoln Park Zoo's research biologist, Lisa Faust, is here as well, discussing her work with the Population Management Center.
At this annual conference, our mission is to establish new animal-husbandry policy and foster communication among the heads of zoos and aquariums with the end result of improved care for our animals.
It's great to get together with peers to focus intently on these important issues. Upon my return I will update you on happenings from the conference. As always, I'll keep you posted.
Sincerely,
Kevin Bell
