Looking Back, Moving Forward
First, a look back. 2011 was a great year for Lincoln Park Zoo, capped off with a record-setting season of ZooLights Presented by ComEd and Charter One. We welcomed more than 365,000 visitors to ZooLights, thanks to mild weather, fun new features and the simple appeal of strolling the zoo illuminated by more than 2 million lights.
Thanks to our sponsors and thanks to all those who visited. The holidays are a special time at Lincoln Park Zoo and we're glad so many of you chose to celebrate them with us.
Now, we look forward. 2012 holds great opportunities for the zoo—there are new visitors to impress, new members to welcome into the fold and new experiences for us all to share.
We recently welcomed new animals to our collection, like the beautiful female snowy owl, who is generating buzz throughout the city with her naming contest.
Also new to the collection are the powerful waterbucks that stroll through the northernmost yard at the Antelope & Zebra Area. They’re impressive—come check them out.
Far from hibernating in winter months, Lincoln Park Zoo is alive and active. In the coming weeks, we’re hosting a Mystery at the Zoo, families are sleeping under the skyscrapers and feline fans are joining us at Crazy for Cats.
These are exciting days. As always, I’ll keep you posted.
Sincerely,
Kevin Bell
