New Baby for Sichuan Takin Herd

The Sichuan takin herd at the Antelope & Zebra Area has just welcomed a new baby! The new arrival, a male, was born yesterday afternoon to female Jinse. After receiving his check-up this morning, the calf has joined the herd on exhibit, including mom, older brother Mengyao, half-sibling Xing Fu and female Mei Li.

Nature Boardwalk at the Flower Show

Should Chimpanzees Be Kept As Pets?

Tune in Sunday at 9 p.m. (CST) to Animal Planet’s “Fatal Attractions,” which explores exotic “pet” ownership. Lincoln Park Zoo’s primate-behavior expert Steve Ross contributes to this special that highlights the dangers of private chimpanzee ownership. Ross is the leader for Project ChimpCARE, a newly created non-partisan initiative committed to improving the wellbeing of chimpanzees and opening the lines of communication between disparate groups to achieve this goal. Parking Lot Congestion

Field-trip season is upon us and we’d like to remind everyone to plan for the increase in visitors and buses using the parking lot. Please note: The lot is congested during bus drop-offs (9–10 a.m.) and pick-ups (noon–2 p.m.). The lot is most congested on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from late March through early June. We encourage guests to use public transportation when visiting the zoo.
