Welcoming Visitors from a World Away

Lincoln Park Zoo is proud to welcome visitors from throughout Chicago—and throughout the world! Today a group of 40 nurses from China came to visit the zoo, part of a six-week English immersion program organized by the City Colleges of Chicago.

Zoo Guest Relations Volunteer David Khem was on-hand to greet the guests in Mandarin and share some wildlife the international visitors could expect to see.

Polar Bear at Play

Keepers at Lincoln Park Zoo's McCormick Bear Habitat recently provided the zoo's female polar bear, Anana, with some fun enrichment: the biggest pool toy we've ever seen.

Anana pounds on the barrel at one point—behavior that's also seen in the wild, where polar bears press on the ice to reach seals sleeping beneath it.

Happy Birthday to Keo!

Yesterday marked the 54th birthday of chimpanzee Keo! Fisher Center Director Steve Ross, Ph.D., shares this photo, noting that Keo is the oldest male chimpanzee living in a zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
