For our Photo of the Week, we scavenged a closeup portrait of Bruno, a 27-year-old male cinereous vulture who resides with his mate, Lurch, at the zoo’s Regenstein Birds of Prey Exhibit.

Cinereous vultures—commonly called “monk vultures” for their neck ruffs which resemble monastic hooded robes—are a threatened Eurasian species and one of the largest birds of prey on the planet.
