Photo of the Week: August 2, 2013

Say bonjour to Pierre, the baby Francois’ langur born July 11 at the Helen Brach Primate House, in our Photo of the Week.

Francois’ langur baby Pierre at Lincoln Park Zoo

Why “Pierre”? These lanky leaf-eating monkeys were named for Auguste François (1857–1935), who discovered the species while serving as the French Consul in southern China. The Primate House keepers who chose the name also think the names Pierre and Pumpkin (the little orange guy’s mom) sound nice together. We’re pretty positive you’ll be plenty pleased as well.
