Chalk on the Wild Side

LA-based street artist Tracy Lee Stum and her Team 3D crew began work today on a trompe l'oeil-style chalk mural for SoBe on the zoo’s Main Mall. Taking its cue from the beverage company’s Fuji Apple Pear Lifewater thirst quencher, it’ll soon sprout 3D pagodas and a mini Mount Fuji in vivid color.

Seems fitting that it’s located near the site of the zoo’s imminent Regenstein Macaque Forest, a planned, state-of-the-art home for Japanese macaques, or “snow monkeys”.

The mural will be on display just north of the Kovler Sea Lion Pool and Kovler Lion House through Monday, August 5.
