An Award and a Thank You

I am happy to announce that Lincoln Park Zoo received special recognition from our friends at the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. We were named Community Contributor of the Year, citing our significant contribution to the neighborhood with the opening of Nature Boardwalk.

Alderman Vi Daley was honored at the event and received a
well-deserved standing ovation. I would like to take this time to thank Alderman Daley for her years of serving our 43rd ward. Vi is a great friend of the zoo and has been a strong advocate for us, for which we are extremely grateful.
While we at Lincoln Park Zoo are proud to be a hub for conservation projects around the globe, we also strive to be a good neighbor. Our location on the north side of Chicago has played a huge role in making Lincoln Park Zoo a cherished destination for generations of visitors, whether they walk down the block to get here or travel from some distant country.
We are the Ark in the Park. We are a verdant oasis in the shadow of skyscrapers. And, as the Chamber's award recognizes, we are happy to be the wildest residents in a very special neighborhood.
As always, I'll keep you posted.
