The McCormick Bird House will close for roof renovations on Oct. 11 and reopen—at the latest—by Thanksgiving. We appreciate your understanding. Please remember that beautiful birds are still on display at many other Lincoln Park Zoo houses and at ponds and lagoons throughout the grounds.
Birds from the tropics, seashores, forests, wetlands and savannas all have room to roost in Lincoln Park Zoo’s McCormick Bird House. Within this historic, brick building (designed in 1904 by the zoo’s first director, Cyrus DeVry) are numerous habitats replicating myriad environments in which birds live. Visitors are invited to view the feathered inhabitants in traditional exhibits or step into the lush, tropical free-flight area to become immersed in a wondrous, winged world.
The Micronesian kingfisher is one of the most beautiful birds in the world, and one of the rarest.
